Frequently asked questions
-
Can I use my custom packaging?
Absolutely! We know that the branded and unboxing experience is a crucial opportunity to enhance your customer’s perception of your product and brand. Custom packages are simply billed as an additional item during the pick and pack process. -
What are batches?
When fulfilling subscription boxes or crowdfunding orders, we set up an assembly line to kit “batches” of orders. A batch is a unique set of orders that contain the exact same combination of items. In order for the assembly line to be efficient, each batch must contain at least 50 orders. If not, there is a $15 batching fee to compensate for setup of the smaller batch size. -
Do you offer gift messaging? How much does it cost?
Yes! If your shopping cart supports gift messaging, we can include gift messages in orders and label them as “gift” orders. There are two options:
1) Print the gift message on a blank 4x6 card provided by ShipMonk. ($1)
2) Print the gift message on a custom 4x6 card provided by the merchant. ($0.80 + pick fee) -
Can you handle fragile products? Does it cost extra?
Yes, we offer fragile wrapping during the packing process. If you have specific requirements, let us know, and we can accommodate those. Our Happiness Engineers can also assist you with determining the best packaging option for your products. There are additional charges for fragile wrapping based on the product's dimensions. -
What is the Monthly Minimum & How is it Calculated?
The Monthly Minimum is a standardized fee that is determined in conjunction with your pick fees and projected order volume. This fee ensures that we're correctly:
*Pricing your pick fees
*Addressing seasonality
*Planning labor
*Making accurate volume guarantees to the shipping carriersDuring the sales process, we’ll look at your typical monthly order volume and other factors to determine your pick fees. Once pick fees are established, we’ll calculate your Monthly Minimum. We do this by multiplying your monthly order volume by your first item pick fee and then reducing it by 20%.
-
Do you offer storage insurance?
When you store your inventory at ShipMonk, you have two options to insure your product:
1) You add our location to your insurance policy
2) You choose to waive inventory insuranceEach option has its advantages and disadvantages. You can decide which option is best depending on your business's setup and your product's value.
-
What qualifies as a “special project”?
Special projects are one-off tasks that fall outside the scope of the regular pick and pack process or subscription box kitting and assembly. They include jobs like counting inventory, labeling, repackaging and/or bagging products, kitting and/or bundling, quality control, and other generic tasks. Special projects should be submitted to your Happiness Engineer, so they can define the scope and provide a quote for the project prior to commencing with the project.
